In 1997, the Black Sea Universities Network (BSUN) was founded in order to develop cooperation and exchange in the educational, scientific and cultural spheres among the universities and other institutions of the Organization of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC)

Activities of BSUN are aimed at achieving the objectives of the BSEC and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (PABSEC) for the transformation of the Black Sea region, through mutual cooperation, into a region of peace, freedom, stability and prosperity. BSUN cooperates and maintains contacts with other international and regional associations of local authorities, the BSEC Business Council, the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, the International Black Sea Club.
